Come with us for an unforgettable desert festival experience in November 2024

What is Taragalte?

Taragalte is a 3-day festival under the stars of the desert, in southern Morocco. The festival celebrates culture, nomadic heritage, and world music.

Taragalte is inspired by the “moussem” (ancient traditional festival) which, not so long ago, celebrated the departures and returns of the large caravans that criss-crossed the Sahara between M’Hamid and Timbuktu. The role of these caravans was not only a commercial objective, but also a crucial one in developing cultural exchanges between peoples.

The Taragalte Festival is held annually in the middle of the sand dunes of M’Hamid El Ghizlane, between the south of the High Atlas, the largest Oasis in the world and the desert, formerly named Taragalte.

The festival includes music, dance, cultural activities, talks on desert environment and history, nomadic life, culture and local artisan activities.

We are so excited to offer this experience to those wanted a truly unique week in the desert.

On 30th October, we will be departing for Mhamid on a 7 day trip which includes overnight stays in Ouarzazate and Agdz and  accommodation during the festival in a stunning desert camp in the dunes of Mhamid.

All transport will be arranged, and breakfast, dinners and daily activities are included.

Joining our Taragalte experience will not only take away the stress of planning the trip to the desert yourself – we will take care of everything, including transport to and from the festival location each day – it also represents excellent value for money as we have longstanding relationships with the camps, transport and hotels around the festival location, meaning we can secure the best rates.
